FreeForm Hits a Home Run

Recently, Fielders supplied new versatile standing seam roofing solution, FreeFormTM to complete the impressive roof at the Sydney Cricket Ground Pavilion as part of the $197m redevelopment.

Following in the footsteps of projects like the MCG, WIN Stadium, Perth Arena and Adelaide Oval, the SCG is the first stadium to use FreeFormTM.

The ability of the FreeFormTM profile to create unique shapes and curves made it one of the only profiles on the market capable of delivering on the complex design brief. The Fielders team worked closely with AW Edwards, architects and engineers to ensure it ticked all the boxes.

The sheets, which were rolled onsite using a mobile roll-former, extend to a maximum length of 45m and tapered from 400mm right down to 250mm to meet the design requirements, with Fielders also supplying the soffit lining in S-Rib to complete the project.

The new Pavilion roof, now an architectural feature of the stadium, will provide cover to over 85 per cent of the Stand’s 13,300 seats.
